PINHOLE PHOTOGRAPHY USING NIKON PINHOLE CAMERA LENS BODY CAP

I am really interested in the creative effects of pinhole photography - I recently read an article in digital camera magazine which got me interested in trying out this classic camera technique.

To create a pinhole is a real simple process to achieve, all you need is a spare body cap to get you started.  I found this great article on the internet giving you step by step instructions to make one, click here to check it out.  Or if you haven't the time to follow the instructions then you can find body caps already prepared on eBay for less than a fiver.

So far I'm absolutely loving the look of the pinhole body cap, I really can't want to try the technique out on a portrait session especially either for an implied nude or boudoir shoot to create the fine art look....

All shots below were taken with the Nikon D4 camera body.

All the best, Gavin

pinhole camera, a variation of Cameraobscura, is a simple camera without a lens and with a single small aperture, a pinhole – effectively a light-proof box with a small hole in one side. Light from a scene passes through this single point and projects an inverted image on the opposite side of the box.

gavin conlan photography is now using the Phottix Odin System for Nikon | Essex Wedding Photographer

For a while now I've been looking at the prospect of updating my wireless flash trigger system, for years I've been using dummy receivers because not only were they great value for money but they were also really reliable.

Unfortunately over the last few months and especially on my recent Engagement session in Bournemouth I noticed their reliability begin to slip, they would fire on the test shot and then one in every 4 shots.  As a professional photographer and working with tight deadlines i can't allow this to happen - I need a set up which is 100% reliable in all situations.

Step forward Phottix Odin for Nikon - the phottix odin system has rave reviews and they're the current industry leader in wireless flash photography especially with their 100% reliability and their working ranges of over 100+ metres.  To view their full technical specs please click here.

I've just taken delivery of my new wireless lighting system the Phottix Odin for Nikon

Originally after reading the press release from September 2014 regarding the new and updated Phottix Odin 2 system I was tempted to hold out and wait for their release (sometime in 2015) but due to my work schedule I couldn't wait I needed them now.

Before making this decision I was looking at the Yongnuo set up as I own one Yongnuo flash, this system also seemed very reliable and if you are after a cheaper alternative to the Phottix system I would highly recommend them.  There is a great youtube video I found where they compare the pocket wizards to the Yongnuo system and the Yongnuo system won hands down in every test.

Now it's time for me test my new Phottix set up!!!

Happy Sunday everyone!!

All the best, Gavin
